[ Stories & Reportings ] Mi-26 in Sweden Published 2002-07-21
During a week in late June 2002 the silence was broken in the forrests south of Borås. The one to break the silence was no other than the worlds largest helicopter, the Russian Mil Mi-26T Halo. With a size simular to the C-130 Hercules airplane the Halo is one of its kind. You can not be misstaken, this is a true heavy lifter above every ordinary propotions.

The Halo was visiting Sweden to carry out a power line construction in Borås and to mount a wind power station in Bydalen, Jämtland. The helicopter, owned by the Russian company Uralaviatrans (UAT), was brought to Sweden through the Swedish company Osterman Helicopter AB. This was the 6th time a Halo had been in Sweden, the last time was back in 1996. Nordic Rotors had the opportunity to take a closer look at the Halo and these photos below are the result. Get prepared to be amazed, this is a helicopter where size and power matters, this is the Mi-26T!

A longer reporting from the Halos visit to Sweden will be published
at Nordic Rotors later on this year. Stay tuned!
