If you are going for a taxi- or a sightseeing flight, make sure that the company you choose has a valid JAR-OPS 3 approval issued by the Swedish Transport Agency. The company will also need an Operating License (OL) if the flight is going to be other than local. The authority has no public lists with approved JAR-OPS 3 operators, but they have two lists over companies with valid OLs (click here and here).

Aerial works
Pure aerial works companies do not need the approvals mentioned above - they can operate with a national aerial work permit (LFS 2007:49). However, the most JAR-OPS 3 operators have an aerial work section included in their approvals. There are no public lists with all these operators, but we have them listed here. Call the Transport Agency (+46 771 503 503) to verify their validity.

Osterman Helicopter i Östersund
Osterman Helicopter i Östersund is a privately owned company with its main bases at Säve Airport in Gothenburg and Göviken Heliport in Östersund. It offers a wide range of services, including sling-load operations, air taxi, measurement flights and various aerial works. The company operates all over northern Europe.

Osterman Helicopter has its roots in the world's first helicopter company outside the US – Ostermans Aero (est. 1946).
History Osterman Helicopter derives from the old company Ostermans Aero AB’s flight department in Gothenburg. As Osterman decided to close its activities in the region a set of former employees were granted the Osterman name and subsequently established the new company Osterman Helicopter AB in 1981.

The company acquired the agricultural aviation company Laroy Flyg (1) in 1988, which incorporated operations like liming and fertilizing into Osterman's line of work.

Osterman Helicopter inherited Ostermans Aero's activities in Stockholm in 1991 as Ostermans Aero decided to focus fully in its maintenance and broker activities.

In 1993 Osterman Helicopter initiated an ambulance helicopter activity in Uppsala in cooperation with the Uppsala University Hospital. Osterman lost the contract in 1996, but won a new ambulance contract in Stockholm.

Osterman Helicopter purchased the Borlänge and Östersund based company Heliflyg AB in June 2000, which merged the two company fleets and bases together and added the Östersund based EMS helicopter to Osterman’s activity.

Norwegian Air Shuttle AS (NAS) and its subsidiary Lufttransport AS acquired Osterman Heli's ambulance helicopter activities in Östersund and Stockholm in September of 2001.

In January 2002 Norwegian Helicopter Transportation Group (HTG) acquired Osterman Helicopter AB. The company was merged together with the Swedish shuttle and training company HelikopterService AB, with Osterman in the leading position.

Osterman Helicopter entered partnership with Jämtlands Aero (2) in February 2004, which made Osterman responsible for the partner's operational and technical management. Jämtlands Aero (2) remained as a vending company for a period of time.

Osterman Helicopter was purchased from HTG by the company Skyline Helikopter in 2005, and their fleets were merged into the new version of Osterman Helicopter.

In late-2009 the Norwegian company Nordenfjeldske Luftfart AS purchased Osterman Helicopter, but the new owner gave up the ownership just short of a year later. Nordenfjeldske Luftfart AS sold it back to the previous owner.

Osterman Helicopter went through a total renewal process in the autumn of 2011. The company was gradually transitioned into Osterman Helicopter i Östersund AB.
