Norrlandsflyg Ambulans (retired)
Norrlandsflyg Ambulans operated the EMS helicopter in Gothenburg between 2011 and 2015. The company was a subsidiary to Scandinavian Helicopter Group (SHG), which was specialized in leasing, selling and operating helicopters.History
Norrlandsflyg Ambulans was an air-ambulance branch that derived from the historic company Norrlandsflyg (established in Gällivare back in 1961). Norrlandsflyg had operated ambulance helicopters on and off from the mid-60s and forward. Its focus in the EMS market was gradually increased and a search and rescue segment was eventually introduced in 2002. The company became a fully dedicated EMS/SAR operator in 2004.
In 2011 the company operated five SAR bases and one EMS station (Gotheburg). The rescue division was purchased by the Swedish Maritime Administration on the 1st of November 2011, which lead to the subsequent forming of Norrlandsflyg Ambulans and its take-over of the EMS helicopter in Gothenburg.
Norrlandsflyg Ambulans obtained its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in late October 2011.
Norrlandsflyg Ambulans was a sister company to the aerial work company Laroy Flyg and the sales company Osterman Helicopter (operated by Stockholms Helikoptertjänst and later STORM Heliworks).
On 1 July 2015 the new state-owned HEMS organisation Svenk Luftambulans took over the operation of the emergency medical helicopter in Gothenburg from Norrlandsflyg Ambulans AB. The full staff and the Sikorsky S-76C+ (SE-JUX) were transferred to Svensk Luftambulans. The backup S-76 (SE-JUS), which was grounded at that time, remained with Norrlandsflyg Ambulans.
