Make sure that the company you choose has a valid approval issued by the Transport Agency.

If you are going for a taxi- or a sightseeing flight, make sure that the company you choose has a valid JAR-OPS 3 approval issued by the Swedish Transport Agency. The company will also need an Operating License (OL) if the flight is going to be other than local. The authority has no public lists with approved JAR-OPS 3 operators, but they have two lists over companies with valid OLs (click here and here).

Aerial works
Pure aerial works companies do not need the approvals mentioned above - they can operate with a national aerial work permit (LFS 2007:49). However, the most JAR-OPS 3 operators have an aerial work section included in their approvals. There are no public lists with all these operators, but we have them listed here. Call the Transport Agency (+46 771 503 503) to verify their validity.

Lufttransport Svenska (retired)
Lufttransport Svenska AB was established in 2001, as the Norwegian company Norwegian Air Shuttle and its subsidiary Lufttransport AS acquired Osterman Helicopter's EMS activities in Östersund and Stockholm.

In 2002 Lufftransport won an EMS contract with Västerbotten's County Concil and placed a Dauphin in Lycksele (replacing the Swedish Armed Forces Helicopter Wing's earlier EMS activity in the region).

In 2003 Lufftransport won the contract with Uppsala University Hospital for a Dauphin helicopter in Uppsala, replacing Norrlandsflyg's service in the region.

In 2005 Norsk Helikopter AS purchased Lufftransport Svenska.

In 2007 the Swedish company Fly Partners i Luleå AB purchased Lufttransport Svenska. Fly Partners was also the owner of SOS Helikoptern Gotland AB, which operated an EMS EC145 in Visby.

In 2008 Lufttransport Svenska changed name to Scandinavian MediCopter (SMC), which became a subsidiary to Scandinavian AirAmbulance (SAA). The helicopter in Visby was included in the same organization.
