If you are going for a taxi- or a sightseeing flight, make sure that the company you choose has a valid JAR-OPS 3 approval issued by the Swedish Transport Agency. The company will also need an Operating License (OL) if the flight is going to be other than local. The authority has no public lists with approved JAR-OPS 3 operators, but they have two lists over companies with valid OLs (click here and here).

Aerial works
Pure aerial works companies do not need the approvals mentioned above - they can operate with a national aerial work permit (LFS 2007:49). However, the most JAR-OPS 3 operators have an aerial work section included in their approvals. There are no public lists with all these operators, but we have them listed here. Call the Transport Agency (+46 771 503 503) to verify their validity.

Cassel Aero
AB Skogsflyg Cassel Aero is one of the oldest active helicopter companies in Sweden. It is fully focused in agricultural works – mainly forest fertilizing operations. Its main base is located at the airport in Örnsköldsvik, but its helicopters operate all over northern Sweden. The company has a full armada of advanced ground equipment that is specially adapted for the operations.

History The company has been focused in two kinds of seasonal activities – the agricultural operations in the summers and ice reconnaissance in the winters. The ice reconnaissance ops were carried out from the Swedish icebreakers for several decades. The long-lived winter operations ceased in 2004.
