Svensk Flygtjänst operated the military's helicopters at the RFN base in Vidsel between 1959-1984. <b>About the company</b> Svensk Flygtjänst was established back in 1935. It was a multi-task company with various operations, including maintenance and airborne target towing. It had a great deal of activity at the military missile test range in Vidsel (Robotförsöksplats Norrland, RFN). The helicopter operations began in 1959 as the first Alouette II was delivered to the Swedish Armed Forces. Svensk Flygtjänst was assigned to maintain and operate the helicopters at the missile test range on behalf of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). This was the only helicopter related activity in Swedair. The company was renamed to Swedair in 1975, but the helicopters were not formally written over until November 1984.
