SE-JLE
Information about SE-JLE
SE-JLE was purchased by Tärnaby-based Westhelicopter AB by the end of 2003, and arrived to Piteå-Långnäs airfield on February 16, 2004. The maintenance company Helimek AB was been given the task to assemble the new helicopter.
In fact the helicopter left the US based Robinson factory in week 4, however the freight company happened to send the box with the blades and tail section to Johannesburg (in South Africa), instead of Sweden. First on February 12 all three boxes were located at Arlanda airport and could be sent to Piteå by truck. The helicopter arrived to Piteå-Långnäs airfield at lunch time on Monday, February 16. Jim Lindkvist and the technicians at Helimek AB managed to assemble the helicopter rapidly. In approx three hours the helicopter was standing on its own skid-gear. Not a single part had been damaged despite the rather long de-tour to South Africa. SE-JLE was approved by the Swedish Aviation Safety Authority (Luftfartsinspektionen) on February 24.
SE-JLE was purchased via the Swedish Robinson dealer Helicopter Assistance at Bromma airport, in Stockholm. It was the very first brand new R44 ordered by a commercial costumer in Sweden, except those machines operated by Helicopter Assistance.
The helicopter is painted in "Flame Red" and is equipped with a factory-installed communication radio with a frequency range from 148-174 MHz, to be able to communicate with the Laplanders during reindeer herdings.
