The machine was currently on loan to the Östersund department as their own helicopter, SE-HPY was undergoing some heavy maintenance as a result of an accident that occurred at this precise location near Christmas the year before.
The pilot of SE-HPY was forced to leave the aircraft on the mountain top due to freezing clouds. As the crew returned to the machine the next morning they discovered that the strong wind had blown the helicopter off the top, flipped it over and hurled it down along the slope a few meters. It had to be airlifted of the site helped by a Vertol 107 from the Swedish military.Direct link: http://www.nordicrotors.com/SE-HPT/542 -

SE-HPT was assigned to the Malmö unit, but the delivery to the base at Sturup Airport was slightly delayed due to a massive fire that eradicated the base in Stockholm on February 7 2002, destroying three helicopters - two Jet Rangers and the launch EC 135 (SE-HPR). It replaced the retired Jet Ranger SE-HPH at the Police Base at Sturup Airport, near downtown Malmö.
The aircraft was later transferred to the Gothenburg base as the Malmö base was closed.
Upgraded to a P2+ (i)
SE-HPT was eventually modified from a P2 to a P2+, which gave the aircraft some extra power and an increased maximum take-off weight.
Retirement
In September 2012 the National Police took the formal decision to renew its fleet and replace its six EC135s, as well as to strengthen the structure with an additional aircraft to cover for the EC135 lost in 2007 (SE-HPS).
On 14 July 2014 Bell Helicopter announced that the Swedish National Police had signed a purchase agreement for seven Bell 429 helicopters.rnThe first Bell 429 (SE-JPU) was handed over on 1 October 2015, and it made its first official flight in service with the Swedish Police Authority on 27 October. The delivery of the remaining helicopters progressed in a rapid pace.
Together with SE-HPV, SE-HPT became the last two EC135 to be sold. The two helicopters were exported to Germany in February 2016. The first EC135 (SE-HPX) had been sold to Germany a year earlier, three other EC135s were exported in late-2015. All helicopters were purchased by Helicopter Travel Munich (HTM), based at Emden Airport, which is focused in supporting the offshore windmill industry.
