This helicopter was manufactured by Aérospatiale back in 1983. It was purchased by Borlänge based Sterner Aero AB and was in service for seven years before Sterner was acquired by Heliflyg AB. The helicopter became a member of the large Heliflyg fleet in January 1990.

The helicopter crashed on 23 October 1990, killing four. The accident occured while taking off from a mast inspection site at Vallenäsberget, near Tärnaby, with a few technicians. The machine hit a supporting line of the mast and crashed. The pilot and three technicians lost their lives, one survived with serious injuries.

The aircraft was later restored by Eurocopter and sold to Indonesia.
